[Media Invite] EIGHT Korean BBQ - Korean BBQ with Eight Flavoured Mangalitza Pork Belly

By the same people behind Joo Bar, EIGHT Korean BBQ stands out from other Korean BBQ establishments with their signature 8 flavoured Mangalitza Pork Belly slices - which features thick and scrumptious pork belly slices in an array of flavours. Set in The Central at Clark Quay, diners will get to enjoy their favourite BBQ meal in an industrial chic setting while belting out to their favourite Korean songs that are played on the TV screen. The BBQ tables at EIGHT also features both a grilling and stewing section where diners can enjoy both variations of cooking styles simultaneously.

Other than their coveted Mangalitza pork belly, diners can also choose from a list of  ingredients from their menu, such as the BBQ squid, or even beef slices. EIGHT Korean BBQ prides themselves in serving only USDA Prime and Kagoshima Wagyu beef which are famed for their melt-in-your-mouth textures.

For diners that visit EIGHT, something that you HAVE TO order will be their 8 Colours Set (S$98) which includes thick, pork succulent pork slices that are favoured in 8 ways - original, wine, ginseng, garlic, herb, curry, miso, and red pepper paste. The strips, each weighing 100g each, are rolled up elegantly in a wooden tray and can feed up to 4 people comfortably. You can also request for additional strips at S$12 each.

Upon ordering the meat, the friendly staff at EIGHT Korean BBQ will prepare and grill the meat for you. The meat is cooked beneath a sheet of oil absorbent paper to prevent the oil from splattering on you - possibly the most terrifying part of every BBQ. Among the meat, my favourite flavours were the curry and herb flavoured ones! The meat will also be served with mushrooms, kimchi and greens for you to prepare your wrap!

Other popular dishes from EIGHT Korean BBQ were also their kimchi cheese fried rice which was topped with morsels of cheese flakes (YUMZ) and as a result, every bite was filled with strings of cheese that were oozing from the fried rice. Other dishes that won our hearts were also the Army Stew (S$24) and the Potato Pancakes.

To end off the meal, we were then served the BimBimBap Bingsu, a Korean shaved ice dessert that resembled the savoury rice dish. The dessert was garnished with colourful fruits and toppings, topped with a peach slice in the middle which resembled the poached egg of a BimBimBap. At S$28, this dessert can fit up to 5 people comfortably. Diners can also choose from either chocolate or strawberry sauce.

We also tried their Chocolate Bingsu (S$12) which featured toppings like chocolate fudge, cocoa powder and a chocolate ice-cream. The best part? The hidden Nutella swirls that were found in the Bingsu that garnered lots of oohs and ahhs when we first dug into the dessert. This chocolate bingsu was nothing like the mainstream dessert after all.

Overall, the dining experience at EIGHT Korean BBQ was an extremely pleasant one as we were not plagued with the smell of BBQ meat after the meal. The restaurant was also very spacious, and diners can even choose to sit at the alfresco dining area to take in the full view of the streets of Clark Quay or the Singapore River.
