This Christmas, indulge in the freshest seafood-studded buffet specialties and festive staples with Street 50 Restaurant & Bar from 24th December to 2nd January 2016! A few weeks back, I was invited to the Bejewelled Christmas By The Bay Christmas dinner held by Bay Hotel's Street 50 Restaurant & Bar. The festive creations of the night were whipped up by Executive Chef Ricky, who also helms the "global flavours with a twist" kitchen with classic French culinary techniques that will leave you sated with his artful masterpieces. 

Street 50 Restaurant & Bar is a flagship restaurant that brings you the best of all-day dining from around the world, offering a diverse range of food from Italy, France, Vietnam, America, etc to local cuisines with a modern flair. The restaurant is also decked out in dark tones and wooden accents, brimming with an unpretentious elegance what would also allow you to dine comfortably with ease. Being very accessible from Harbourfront MRT, it's also a fantastic place to gather for a  festive Christmas celebration with your friends and loved ones! 

Here are some of the dishes which you can find in the Christmas buffet spread!


Soda Gembira - S$6

The Soda Gembira sparkled like a gem that night. This gorgeous drink is infused with rose syrup, evaporated milk, soda and topped off with basil seeds! Nothing screams Christmas as much as this creation does!



 Salmon Carpaccio with Coriander & Pine Nut Vinaigrette

This appetizer was brimming with tangy and refreshing flavours brought by the pine nut vinaigrette and the fresh salmon slices. Given their bite-sized nature, it was really easy to pop them into our mouths and they were extremely addictive! The onion slices added a nice sharp flavour which was also a nice complement to the dish.

Smoked Oyster & Crab Cake

The Smoked Oyster & Crab Cakes were one of our favourite dishes of the night! The crab cake encompassed a generous mash of oysters and crab cake, fried to a golden brown. It is then topped with diced papayas (Surprise, surprise!) for an elevated sweetness, thin strips of spring onion and ginger. 


Black Pepper Alaska Crab Claws with Gingko Nuts

What's having a buffet without seafood?! If you are afraid of tainting your fingers with the delicious black pepper sauce, you will be heartened that the claws are all partially cracked so you will not have to worry about rushing off to the toilets to get your fingers cleaned. But, sometimes, that's the pure joy of eating seafood right? The sauce was thoroughly infused into the crab meat and every bite was full of bursting black pepper flavours - another thumbs up from us! 



Bay Scallop with Warm Tomato Essence 

This dish was served accompanied with sea salt though I would recommend you not to drizzle them over the scallops as they were already salty enough. The fresh scallop slices went really well with the tomato essence, topped with different vegetable and fruit balls! 



.       Seafood Paella 

This dish was incredibly stunning, and my favourite has got to be all the fresh seafood that was piled on top of the paella rice! I wasn't really a fan of the rice as I felt that it was a little too bland for my liking but the textures were alright! 

.       Tandoori Turkey Breast

What's Christmas without some delicious Turkey slices?! The dish comes with two types of sauce - Pineapple Salsa and Cucumber Coriander for you to choose from. Personally, I would prefer the Pineapple Salsa as I would prefer a sauce that boasts a more tangy flavour. But if you're those that prefer something more creamy, than the Cucumber Coriander would be the sauce for you! Other than the fact that the Turkey Breast was a little on the tough side, it was a pretty good dish too!

epe Suzette with Mandarin Orange

Last but not least - desserts! To round off the dinner with a sweet note, diners can expect to be enchanted by their delectable range of desserts such as the Cranberry Trifle with Tropical Fruits, Ginger Bread Pudding with Spicy Brandy Sauce, Crepe Suzette with Mandarin Orange along with the usual Log Cakes, "stollen" and Pralines! But if you're a fan of crepes, I suggest you go straight for their Crepe Suzette. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
