Food Review: Stateland Cafe
When you think of Red Velvet Waffles, Stateland Cafe is bound to cross your mind. The cafe was opened by 3 friends who met in NS and thus, its quirky name. The cafe seats comfortably in the premises of Kampong Glam, and even though the area is known for a plethora of cafes, it still stands out effortlessly with the vintage-industrial vibe it exudes.

We had:
The Classic Honey Toast - $11.90
(Thick cut toast baked with honey and salted butter, served with fresh fruits and honey yogurt ice-cream)
The Honey Toast was crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The honey yogurt had a slightly sour after-taste which complemented the maple syrup that came along with it. I would recommend the desserts served at Stateland for sharing as it might get a little gelat for one person .
The Red Velvet - $14.90
(Traditional Red Velvet Cake translated into a waffle. Deep-red Waffle covered with chocolate, topped with cream cheese glaze and Vanilla Ice-cream)
Oh, the highly raved Red Velvet Waffles at Stateland! Unfortunately, I found this dish to be a little overrated. The waffles was a little bitter for my liking, and I'm not sure if this was due to the fact that they added too much Cocoa powder. I didn't fancy how the cream cheese went together the Vanilla ice-cream as well. I would prolly try the other waffle selections next time!
Service:
The service was fairly decent and food was served relatively quickly!
Atmosphere:
We were greeted with a dimly lit interior with a retro vibe. The cafe made use of various industrial elements which made it look really vintage. We were seated at the main cafe area, but they're currently in the midst of expanding their premises, so there'll be sure to have lots of seating space in the near future!
Hope this helped :)
I haven't been cafe-hopping much lately due to work, but I really hope that I'll be able to visit one / two after my birthday week, and get back to doing food reviews again!
Toodles!
