Food Review: Cafe Epicurious
It may seem like I've been trying to spam food reviews but really, food usually makes up the main focus of my trip out with friends so its more like a "might as well" kinda thing.Address:
#01-02 The Quayside, Robertson Quay
(Lunch is from 11:30am-3pm, last order at 2.:30 - Monday to Friday)
(Dinner 5-10pm - Sunday to Thursday)
What they're famous for:
Egg dishes
Atmosphere: 7/10
Food: 5/10
Price: 5/10 (A little overpriced for the portion of food served)
Service: 4/10
What we had:
Apple Crumble with Vanilla Ice-cream - $8
I loved how the ice-cream blended with the piping hot apple crumble pie. It was good that the pie wasn't too sweet, if not the whole dish would have tasted really sugary. I would highly recommend this for sharing as it got a little too "gelat" after a few mouthfuls.
Caprese Salad - $9.50
First time trying out Caprese salad! The mozerella cheese beneath the mess of greens tasted really good, so it was a good blend of toast, cheese and greens. Another dish great for sharing, imo. You would prolly be too full from all that cheese if you consume this alone. And it's pretty sinful too hehe, when it was supposed to be healthy.
Baked Eggs with Toast Soldiers - $14.60
Okay, first thing's first. I've tasted this dish years ago at Cafe Epicurious but it was the outlet at the Rail Mall. So it I wanna compare, the one at TRM tasted much better. It was cheesier and much creamier. The portions were bigger too if I'm not wrong. But the satueed potatoes and toast that accompanied the dish were good. Was just a little disappointed with the egg dish since it was supposed to be the highlight :(
Service:
The staff who served us wasn't exactly friendly and seemed pretty hostile. I don't know if this had to do with us walking in at 2pm when their last order was at 2:30 or smth (Becos we kept being reminded about it. Like come on, we get it guys) They refilled our water regularly on cute Vodka bottles but the service was............ urgh.
Atmosphere:
Since its located at Robertson Quay, the location of the cafe win hands down. The interior of the cafe had a pretty rustic feel to it. It was small, yet cosy. We would have sat outside if not for the scorching sun or because of the fact that we wanted to snap pictures of the cafe.

And then there was the great company : Fel, Shawn and David. Turns out that we're all Cancer babies with the same blood type. No wonder we are all quirky in the same way hahaha. We had our own fair share of workout at the bridge for jump shots in the scorching weather. I think we got quite a bit of audience (which explains the pictures of the uncles below) mimicking our "1, 2, JUMP!!!!" Hahaha.
I hope I won't look too burnt when I'm back on Thursday though.
Till then! :)
